Job Description
Job Purpose
The purpose of this position is to facilitate the awareness raising campaigns in the targeted communities and schools on the risks of landmines and explosive remnants of war (ERWs). The holder of this position will support in developing, designing, installing and distributing the awareness messages, billboards, and announcing the messages using loud speakers set on the vehicles.
The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:
Developing weekly and monthly plan and following the planed tasks within the set timelines;
Conducting field visits and mapping of the most at risk areas with close coordination with the project coordinator
Support the project/team in developing and designing the awareness raising package and to install and deliver the packages through the planned mechanisms;
Organize and facilitate the awareness raising campaign through announcing the messages using the set loud speakers on the vehicles in the targeted communities and distributing the information brochures, posters and flyers for the targeted community members;
Mapping, coordinating and installing billboards with the landmine information in the locations
Sensitize children, guardians/parents, and other stakeholders about child rights and responsibilities with a view to identifying child protection cases;
Attending the meetings and trainings planned by the office;
Draft and submit weekly and monthly update report to the line manager;
Other duties assigned by the line manager.
Background
War Child was established in 1993 as a response to the brutal effects of conflict on children during the Balkans war. We are currently operational in Iraq, Afghanistan, Jordan, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Central African Republic. War Child UK started its operation in the Western Region of Afghanistan in 2003 working in three (3) thematic areas namely Education, Protection and Livelihood. War Child UK’s main office is located in Kabul and a sub-office in Herat and Badghis &Ghor.
Job Requirements
Have bachelor degree in social science;
2-3 years’ experience in community mobilization and distributions;
Have enough child protection in emergencies knowledge
Good Computer Skill
Good English Language Skills
Ability to deliver the sessions in a simple and systematic way
Excellent Communication, coordination, Negotiation skills
Good report writing and presentation skills
