Job Description:


Under the supervision of the REA Director, and in coordination with the Operations & Procurement Specialist, the Cook shall prepare lunches and any other specially requested meals/snacks for ACEBA regional office staff and visitors.

Objective and Duties:

Take care of kitchen management and food hygiene
Prepare staff lunches according to assigned schedules for ACEBA staff, and visitors, at the office.
Ensure that all food is prepared in a sanitary and appealing manner.
Shop for all food and supplies required for the operation of the kitchen and the provision of meals in coordination with the Operations & Procurement Specialist.
Store all food items according to standard hygiene practices.
Ensure that all cupboards and contents are organized and clean and the cabinets clearly labeled with the contents.
Notify Operations & Procurement Specialist of any kitchen equipment or maintenance needs.
Be available to support with special occasions and additional requests.
Prepare beverages and snacks for meetings as required.
Clean the kitchen and dining room after every meal, ensuring that all pots & pans, kitchen appliances, cutlery and crockery are sanitized and neatly stored and that all surfaces are disinfected properly.

The objective of this program is to enhance capacities of Afghan exporters and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) associated with export-oriented value chains, such as carpets, marble and granite, precious stones and jewelry, textiles, and cashmere as a means of promoting sustainable economic growth and increasing employment.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:


Experience working preferably with international donor-funded projects, UN agencies or INGO’s on programs in Afghanistan.                                                                           

Other Skills:

Some secondary school education desirable.
Knowledge of food hygiene standards.

Good verbal and written communication skills.
Punctual and reliable.
Team oriented.


Fluent in spoken and written Pashto or Dari, basic English.


The position reports to the REA Director.
