Palliative Medicine is a medical specialty focused on improving quality of life for people with serious or terminal illnesses. It does this by treating pain and other symptoms, working with patients and families to make medical decisions, and caring for patients both in medical settings and in homes. The doctor must be trained and have experience in providing palliative care in various settings.

This doctor will work with the Faizabad director and the Badakhshan Medical project coordinator to develop a program of training and practice in palliative care. They will work with the local ministry of public health and provincial hospital to implement this practice with local physicians. This care will likely take place in homes, with the doctor making visits to the homes of patients to treat them in chronic and/or terminal cases. The work will be with the families of the ill patients and other doctors to help treat them. We are requesting a Doctor of Medicine and prefer a specialty in Palliative Care.
