Education Project Officer ( Re-Announcement) (Re Announced) (Wardak, Afghanistan)


Job Description

Scope of work:

Education project officer (EPO) is a member of the management team at the Project Office Education Unit. S/he is responsible to assist the Education Project Manager in management and operational issues. He/she will assist the project manager in planning, budgeting, report writhing, field visits and other administrative issues. She/he will also be responsible for data collection/data management, record keeping in the concerned education project. In coordination with other team members, s/he will have frequent field visits and assist schools’ (CBSs) in technical issues. Also, he/she should support administration staff in data collection/keeping/management and in record keeping/filling.  

The Education project officer (EPO) supports Education Field Supervisors (EFSs) in proper data collection. S/he will also handle coaching classes activities.

Education project officer reports to the Education Project Manager.

Main Responsibilities:

Manage, coordinate, schedule and monitor the work of the data assistant. 
Ensure that the projects are completed on schedule and within the budget.
Identify opportunities for improvement, inventiveness and makes constructive suggestion for change.
Actively contribute to the successful development and good reputation of the SCA.
Assist Education Project Manager (EPM)in preparation of work plan, budget, and reports.
Promote gender equality, nondiscrimination regarding ethnic, political, and religious background.
Develop good co-operation with SCA units, authorities, institutions, and other NGOs.
Frequently supervise education activities in the field, at least 40% of time should be in field and properly visit CBSs, RCs and coaching classes.

Ensure quality of school data and students’ learning level through regular field visits, technical follow ups and evaluations.
To computerize school data and statistics and produce report if required.
To translate documents form English to Dari and/or Pashto
Prepare delivery sheets of the education material, teachers’ salary, stationery etc.
To organize meeting/workshops related to the education project and take minutes.
Keeping record of education project staffs
Plan for timely delivery of education materials and teachers’ salaries
Register delivery sheets and forwards to Logistic
In coordination with logistic units at the POs, make sure that materials, textbooks, and stationery are properly supplied.
Assist the education project manager in planning, budgeting, report writing, revision and follow up of the budget.
Preparation of pay roll for field project staff (Teacher, Head Teacher, IERPs and etc

Ensure that SCA supported educational facilities are run in accordance with SCA policy and SCA education directives.
Receive, review, and analyses data and working reports of the EFSs and provide appropriate response.
Assist the (data entry assistant) in keeping the schools’ data updated.
Ensure meetings with EFSs for guidance and problem solving and assist them in making annual data collection.
Assist the education project manager and rest of the project management team in preparation of work plans, school data, budget and reports.
Do related job as delegated by the Education Project Manager

Background

Job Requirements

Graduated from relevant faculty preferably Education and Natural Science faculties of a recognized university, master’s degree in above fields is preferable.
At least 4-year experience in education management, preferably in NGOs, adequate experience in working with diverse teams. Sufficient experience in project planning, management, implementation, and report writing. Also, experience of teaching, class observation and teacher training are an asset.
Fluency in English, Pashto and Dari, written and spoken ability is a need. Also, for effective work as part of a team demonstration skills and adult teaching skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Good supervisory, leadership, analytical and trouble shooting skills, ability to support colleagues and provide/receive constructive feedback,

Ready to work and have the ability to travel frequently to project sites within Afghanistan, computer skills at operator level, especially Ms. Office package and should be an Afghan national
