Engineer (Contingent to Donor Funding Approval) (Ghowr, Afghanistan)

To be responsible for preparation of sub-project design, feasibility, implementation of activities in the ground and the day-to-day management of the activities.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Prepare the technical feasibility, implementation of sub-projects for the district and help them with the preparation of SR with guidance from the district engineer.
  • Provide technical supervision and ensure that engineering works are carried out to the highest standard and in accordance with the approved project design, budget and timeframe.
  • Assist in technical aspects of community projects Gabion installation and Canal Cleaning or any others and advise skill labor and community for any engineering activities.
  • Ensure that the project is carried out according to standard operating procedures, technical manuals and policies.
  • Provide professional supervision and guidance for community interest groups to ensure that they are carrying out watershed technical work competently.
  • Prepare and submit accurate reports to the provincial engineer and district Engineer.
  • Technical survey of watersheds.
  • Assist in any monitoring and evaluation activities as required.
  • Through regular field visits, monitor implementation against the log frame indicators using the means of verification to determine progress and to refine the project design where necessary.
  • Report on project activities at frequency required by Line manager.
  • Make recommendations on how design of future projects can be improved.
  • Develop and submit accurate monthly work plans and reports to Sr. Program Coordinator or Program Manager.  These reports should include technical social and impact information.
  • Liaise with Government Officials, District Officials, FAO, Community representatives for all assigned activities.
  • Liaise with relevant government departments and keep updated them on the project progress and achievements on regular basis.
  • Introducing and implementing of designed activities in the ground.

  • Have knowledge of concrete maxing norms and watershed engineering activities

  • Monitoring of daily wages labours and ensure presence of  skill and un skills labours in watershed

  • Preparing of labours attendance sheet for payment

  • Timely project planning and implementation

  • Checking of the quality of work, materials (stone, gravel, etc) and market (Gabion, tools, etc.) and any construction Materials.

  • Participate in the meetings as appropriate.
