General Responsibilities To provide technical capacity building support for Health and nutrition team to ensure the project’s implementation is up to the standard, and in line with AAH/ National/Universal Protocols
Specific Objectives:
Objectives 1: Overall Capacity building support with regards to Health and Nutrition program activities:
- Determine technical areas for training through a capacity-building needs assessment for Health and Nutrition team this is especially for newly recruited staff in collaboration with the Health and Nutrition Head of the department, the Deputy Head of the department, and the MEAL Coordinator. Develop needed training program (within Adult Learning Cycle principles), with planning for delivery of training sessions. Deliver training with evaluation and follow-up systems according to plan together with Capacity building and MEAL Team, Create systems to reveal the impact of training via training evaluation as well as comparative indicator follow-up. Conduct refresher training on technical aspects and other ad hoc training sessions, coaching, and on-the-job support based on identified needs. Ensure frequent joint visits to the field to monitor the health and nutrition program activities (possibly with Health and Nutrition and Health HoD/Deputy head of department). Conduct regular supportive supervision field visits to the AAH health program and organize and facilitate quarterly joint supportive supervision with provincial authorities. Support development of brief supervision reports/joint visit reports with key recommendations. Provide feedback and advice to Health and Nutrition PM on program integration with Health and Nutrition HoD/DHoD. Propose and initiate improvement according to the Action Against Hunger Health and Nutrition program needs and standards Facilitating program adjustment in collaboration with the Health and Nutrition Coordinator, Deputy Health and Nutrition and Health Coordinator, and Health and Nutrition PMs according to any change in the context. Ensure that Health and Nutrition team are fully understood the utilization of the project monitoring and program tools In collaboration with Health and Nutrition HoD, and DHoD, update and follow up on PM’s work plans and make sure Health and Nutrition PMs do the same for their deputy program managers and supervisors. Ensure Health and Nutrition program performance indicators are monitored, reported, and reach performance standards according to the international/national thresholds. In case results do not meet thresholds, propose additional solutions towards the improvement of the results and in the process learn what may be affecting performance.
Objectives 2: Program, context analysis
- Make sure the Health and Nutrition program and activities are in line with the project definition and timeframe. Organize a regular meeting with key team members to analyze program activities and results. Keep an update on the evolution of the Health and Nutrition situation in all the areas targeted by the response, and on the evolution of the responses in the areas.
Objectives 3: Coordination and representation
- Participates in Health and Nutrition cluster at the Kabul, regions, and province-level (as assigned by the Health and Nutrition HoD) when required and shares the strategic information. Attending technical working group meetings at the health and nutrition clusters with health and nutrition – HoD/DHoD.
Objective 4: Reporting
- Contribute to the Preparation of monthly activity reports (compilation of activity reports –APR Narrative and Quantitative), and provide feedback to the field team in collaboration with Health and Nutrition HoD/DHoD. Reviewing the quality of the Health and Nutrition database and providing feedback to the field team. Analyzing the Health and nutrition program data, and communicating the outcome with the field team.
Background
Action Against Hunger (AAH) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that was created in France in 1979. AAH has been active in Afghanistan in the medical, nutrition, food security, and water and sanitation fields since 1995.
Job Requirements
- Medical Doctor Graduate (GP), training in pediatrics, and work experience in Management of humanitarian nutrition program is preferable
