Health Field Officer working with Head Nurse (Kabul, Afghanistan)

Purpose

To support the nursing element of the hospital residence support project

Main Responsibilities: Functional Responsibilities: Supports the Head Nurse (HN) in implementation of nursing focused interventions within his/her field of responsibility/ expertise. Internally, works with relevant departments of ICRC, and alongside with external key stakeholders (Ministry level, hospital leadership, operational department leads, medical staff, support staff etc) has the ability to offer suggestions & proposal for solution, based on the result of needs assessment  for the review of MOPH Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) & their Nursing Guidelines.Assists the HN in designing appropriate assessment tools, communication of these to national authorities and planning at local/facility and national levels.Conducts assessments with HN and regular visits to monitor activities in hospitalEnsures proper management of information collected and appropriate, relevant reporting.Participates in analysis of and reflection of any assessments that take place; contributes to a realistic plan with the delegation’s objectives and priorities. Able to offer suggestions for partnerships who can cover the identified needs.Helps to organize meetings; advises HN & other mobile staff members on various matters such as culture, politics, the economy, security, etc.

• Nurse manager with degree or diploma in nursing or medical doctor with an understanding of the nursing process.
• Minimum of 7 years of total work experience for nurses (including 5 years of nurse management experience in a hospital setting) & 2 years’ experience for medical doctors.
• Fluent in written and spoken English as well as the working language
• Experience in working in quality assurance, assessment/evaluation & reporting of nursing standards in hospitals
• Good working knowledge of current nursing standards and guidelines in hospitals
• Previous experience with working for international organizations an advantage
• Experience of how Ministry of Public Health is working & its standards for hospitals
