IT Assistant/Computer Instructor (Kabul, Afghanistan)


Job Description

Position Summary

To assist IT and teach computer programs to students within WYDP/KBL CDP.  This position involves assessment, testing, and instruction; completion of related documentation and reports; maintaining on-going student contact and student retention activities; and participation in staff and professional development activities. The main responsibility includes assisting with IT provisions and teaching computer related concepts and programs such as introduction to computers, windows, MS Office and Internet browsing to students of different ages and at different levels. Your duties will range from the preparation of course planning and material, planning, conducting and managing classes. In addition, assess WYDP/KBL CDP IT and progress of students arranges any extracurricular activities for students.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Conduct a placement test for the incoming students   Creates lesson plans that are appropriate for the age and abilities of the students in the class. Evaluates student performances in class and on tests and provides feedback. Assigns special projects to students. Communicates students’ progress to parents, particularly regarding students who need tutoring or other extra assistance. Provides appropriate resources and learning materials for students. Develops and updates curriculum for the classroom. Maintains computer lab and keeps an inventory of supplies. Ensures that computer equipment is functioning properly. Maintains accurate records of students’ progress in class and on examinations. Keeps order in the classroom and handles student behavior issues in accordance with GNI-A policies. Maintains an orderly classroom stocked with appropriate supplies. Stays up-to-date on changes and advancements in computer technology taught in the classroom. Petitions administrators for updated hardware and software for the classroom. Runs the classroom within the allocated budget. Keeps all classroom work backed up. Ensures that the internet (if applicable) in the classroom is used only for appropriate educational purposes. Prepare and submit weekly, by-weekly and/or monthly student evaluations; student/attendance forms; session final reports, inventory (class materials) control, and other required student-related documents as per the given timeline. Respects confidentiality in discussing clients, staff, volunteers, and corporate matters; also maintains confidentiality of organization/project fiscal and personnel related information. Attends all directed meetings, seminars, workshops, staff development trainings, etc. Assisting WYDP/KBL CDP staff with using technologies/machineries in a better and easier way. Assists WYDP/KBL CDP with IT/networking/server and other internet provisions Assisting GNI-A’s staff with soft/hard programing, installation/reinstallation, updating their PCs/laptops Draft an IT and equipment usage policy for GNI-Afghanistan Assisting WYDP/KBL CDP with developing their relevant databases Assists with other duties as assigned or as directed.

Program Summary

GNI-A’s Women and Youth Development Program (WYDP/Kabul CDP) is located in Shahrak e Etifaq, Dashte Barchi Kabul and has been operating in close cooperation and coordination with Afghan Ministry of Education and other relevant stakeholders in order to capacitate hundreds of women and girls through education and skills development in different areas. The program is to contribute to empowering Afghan women and youth through literacy and skills development programs enabling them to access their basic rights, and contribute to their household income. WYDP/KBL CDP provides them with an opportunity to promote themselves through easy and affordable access to quality literacy programs and skills development programs including English language, computer education and other important basic skills within their proximity.

Must have previous experience in teaching computerMust have exceptional computer skills.Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills (Dari/Pashto and English).Must have knowledge of a wide range of computer technologies.Must have excellent trouble shooting skills.Have superior dexterity for keyboarding and operating a mouse.Must have excellent critical thinking and analytical skills.Must have strong organizational, social networking and time management skills. Must have understanding of computer monitors, central processing units, operating systems, hard drives and file storage.

Education and Experience

At least bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
 

Experience:

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as IT/computer teacher/instructorCertification/licenses in teaching computer
