Medical Doctor (Herat, Afghanistan)


Job Description:

Duties & Responsibilities:

Make sure you demonstrate sound behavior with clients
Assist in management of all resources, which are in use of health facility (human resource, equipment, medicine, fee etc).
Takes a proper medical history of the patient.
Correct examination of the clients (patients) and provide necessary advice as per MSI:A and MoPH standards
Prescription according to right diagnosis and knowledge of medicine.
Explaining the treatment to the patient.
Filling Antenatal card and follow up of the patients.
Provision of correct examination result based on health problem of the client.
Writes the essential important complaints, signs and symptoms, as well as the diagnosis and treatment, on the patient’s health card.
Following up infection prevention procedures according to standard guideline.
Participate in on job training for the staff.
Supervise performance of lower level health workers such as midwife, Lab, and vaccinator
Maintain a good relationship with community.
Take action for any emergency event in health status of the target areas collect the necessary documents and report it as soon as possible Quality Assurance Officer and Program Provincial Coordinators .
Completing client consent form before performing the procedure properly
Maintain proper referral system when required
Provision of MSI special services  like, IUD insertion, MVA, MSL and other services.
Conduct weekly, monthly meetings with staff
Perform any other required project-related tasks
Managing emergency medical situation and provide correct referral to hospital

Other responsibilities:

Monitor and administer the arrival and departure of MSIA staff and clients in the clinic.

Monitor the payment of fees and keep an accurate record of client information and income with a daily summary along with click operator.

Assist in the efficient flow of clients through the clinic.

Provide information and consultation on Family Planning for any patient comes to health centre.

Follow up of GRATER approach

Treat all clients with respect, provide privacy and maintain confidentiality

Assisting clients to make a decision by helping to think through the choices.

Understanding and respecting clients rights

Being brief, doing first things first, using simple words, and repeat the most important information during counselling.

Encouraging clients to ask question, and share any worries

Ensure that the whole clinic team is kept fully informed of relevant developments.

Represent the clinic team (and where appropriate, the Country Director and the undersigned at internal and external meetings and tactical planning.

Ensuring aseptic measures infection prevention within the clinic.

Implementation of standard procedures and Blue Book.

Checking of emergency drugs tray on a regular basis.

Make sure all the clinical performances are according MSIA and Gov standards and regulations.

During any emergency it is your responsibility to get all required documentation as records.

Make sure that gender report is not given on ultrasound report

You are not allowed to touch on any medical service or situation, if you don’t have skills and knowledge. It can increase risk for the clients

Avoid from tribal, gender, religious and Nationality discrimination

Job Requirements:

3-5 years, preferably with Health Providing National or International NGOs

Medical Doctor Degree and Gyne specialist

Demonstrated understanding of health system context and medical market (or similar) in Afghanistan.

High level of written and oral communications skills in Dari and English, with a confident and professional manner.

Proven ability to effectively work across teams and with support teams outside Afghanistan
