Mine Manager – Gypsum (Takhar, Afghanistan)


Job Description

Technical:

  • Managing the overall exploration activities for the allocated project in coordination with the exploration team.
  • Assist the exploration team for conducting the feasibility studies and assessing site viability (reserve and resource estimates), including commercial viability,
  • Preparing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating of the mine exploitation plan.
  • Establishing and managing the gypsum processing factory.
  • Creating the health and safety committee on the mine site and oversee the committee activities. 
  • Assisting the Kabul office team with the preparation of the environmental protection plan, implementation of the plan and reporting to the NEPA.
  • Managing the social affairs of the mine site according to the pre-developed plan and resolving social disputes.

  • Preparing the budget plan for the project and then to adhere to budget constraints and targets, undertaking regular reviews as required.
  • Risk management, including monitoring performance against targets, to achieve maximum profitability by providing savings in operational costs.
  • Ensure the implementation of mining law, regulation and related procedures.
  • Maintain a professional working relation with the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, Takhar Mines Directorate and other contractors and stakeholders of the project.
  • Assist in preparation of marketing strategy and help with the distribution of final product to the market.  

Administrative:

  • Managing the overall project and reporting to the Kabul office as per the rules and guidelines of the company.
  • Assist in developing plans for progress and growth, including best practice and technology.
  • Manage and maintain excellent operations and standards.
  • Ensure that the team is focused and deliver key priorities while maintaining high standards of health and safety.
  • Contribute to training and development of the team and in relation to specific project.
  • Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organization and/or its clients/customers to Line Manager.
  • Responsibly use resources and control expenses to meet budgetary controls.

Hours:

Your usual hours will be from 8am to 5pm.

In view of the nature of the job you may be required to perform shift work (such as 12 Hour shifts including days, nights and weekends on a routine basis) and you will be expected to work as and when is necessary to meet the needs of the team and your targets.

Your job will involve travel to the mine sites within the agreed area.

This means you must ensure that equipment is used in accordance with training provided, the entire organization’s policies and procedures and the law and using, where applicable any safety equipment or Personal Protective Equipment provided.

You are responsible for ensuring that the equipment used by the team is maintained and can be used/operated at all times.

Job Requirements

Having at least bachelor degree or higher on the field of Mining Exploration or Exploitation.

Having at least three years of work experience in the mining practical field including working on the quarries.

Excellent knowledge of Dari/Pashtu languages and being familiar with the English language.

Having proper knowledge of essential computer programs.

Experience and ability on preparation of plans and reports.
