Curriculum developer and lecturer: Natural resource management

Within the Bachelor program ‘Natural resource management’ of NAEC, students are trained for a job involved with the sustainable management of Afghanistan’s rangelands, water and forest resources. Graduates are employed as manager, extension worker or researcher within the forest, water and nature sector.

The curriculum Natural resources management is new in the country and aims to restore nature and sustainable use of natural resources, mainly, water and rangelands. We are looking for a person who is able to develop the curriculum in full cooperation with the Dutch donor and the NAEC staff. Applicants will find two job descriptions; one for curriculum developer and one for lecturer. The first 2 to 3 years is mainly curriculum development, once developed to job will gradually become the position lecturer.

Curriculum developer responsibilities

Work collaboratively with the curriculum development team (Kabul & NL) to design, develop and execute a work plan;
Curriculum development based on input from Dutch Experts
Educational development within the frame of NAEC
Module development for first two year (first ones before July 2021)
Input on procedures and methods for implementing the curriculum
Development of a relevant network in the field of expertise, local and national
Translating the technical materials from English to local languages

Lecturer Responsibilities:

Development of modules (4-year curriculum) at Bachelor level
Providing education within the field
Testing, drawing up and assessing assignments and student projects
Guiding students on assignments, internships and research project
Managing fellow curriculum developers
plan and providing in-service training for AHS and AVIs teachers and third parties

National agriculture Education college NAEC is established under the umbrella of (IATO) Improvement of Agricultural Training Organization to provide Agriculture training & Service to people & organization working in Agriculture sector.

National Agriculture Education College (NAEC) rebuild the agricultural education system throughout the country to ensure that young people not only get access to education, but to drive innovation in the agricultural sector as a whole. NAEC focus on providing high-quality agricultural training and education for improving Afghanistan’s agriculture sector and specifically Afghanistan’s food and nutrition security.

NAEC aims to contribute to improving agricultural productivity by improving the level of education in Agricultural High schools and by providing training to people and organizations involved in agriculture sector of Afghanistan. NAEC also, develop modern and relevant national curricula based on needs of the agricultural sector for use by high schools.

Knowledge & Skills:

Knowledge of Afghanistan’s rangelands water and forest resources
Knowledge of the underlying principle of sustainable use of natural resources (biology/ecology, hydrology, soil, rehabilitation, conservation etc.)
 Knowledge of and experience in community and stakeholder involvement in natural resources management
Knowledge of and experience in communications and public-awareness campaigns
Knowledge of the most important laws and regulations in the field of natural resources management
Experience in developing and providing education is an important advantage.
Professional writing and reading skills in Pashto and Dari, and good writing and reading skills in English.

Background:

Training as a manager or researcher in the area of natural resource management or experience within the field through work experience, at least at Bachelor level
A professional network within the natural resource management (e.g. within government agencies, universities, or relevant NGOs)
Professional experience in the field of work is a requisite.
