Provide counselling and quality Sexual and Reproductive health services including family planning, HIV/AIDS, STI, post Abortion counselling, cervical and breast cancer counselling etc.
Give the necessary supervision and advance care to women during pregnancy, labor and the postpartum period.
Conduct deliveries by her own and care for the mother and newborn at community level.
Manage complications in pregnancy and childbirth, in accordance with the principles of basic emergency obstetric care.
Consider IP measures during the deliveries.
Conducting standard ANC/PNC visits in targeted areas.
Counsel and educate women, family and community in relevant areas of Health including mother and newborn health.
 Management of Eclampsia and Preeclampsia (screening, treatment and referrals).
Management of PPH by distribution of Misoprostol.
Offer postpartum family planning counselling and services.
Refer postpartum complications when necessary.
Screening of the pregnant women for danger signs of pregnancy.
Conduct comprehensive counselling for all FP methods.
Provide short term family planning methods to the clients.
Create an effective referral system for long term family planning methods.
 Conduct the PNC visit in 48 hours after delivery and provide them the needed Family planning method.
Information and education on Self-care.
Creating enabling environment for comprehensive referral pathway in case on any complication in delivery.
Counselling and screening the clients for FBV services and strong referral system.
Raise awareness among the women during their household visits and social gathering to increase demand for services.
Provide immediate newborn care with a focus on airway, warmth and breastfeeding.
Provide emergency measures for newborn resuscitation.
Provide routine newborn care, including physical examination, care of the umbilical cord, immunization, etc.
Perform limited, select administrative duties such as patient, recording and reporting of data and coordination of specific educational or outreach programs.
Participate in monthly and quarterly meetings to discuss challenges and solutions.

Afghan Family Guidance Association (AFGA) is an Afghan non-governmental, not-for-profit and non-political organization established in 1968. AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive health and Rights since its inception and has recently become an associate member of International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

AFGA activities were suspended due to war and conflict in the country for ten years (1992-2002) and resumed its activities in 2002 with financial support from International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

IPPF is an alliance of 151 family planning associations known as Member Associations which has projects in over 180 countries. IPPF continues to be the largest civil society provider of reproductive health information and services in the world.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

Diploma in midwifery (2 years)

Bachelor of Midwifery School (4 Years Preferred)
At least have 3 years of relevant working experience.
Fluency of local languages and Basic knowledge of English language.

Good knowledge of Computer and Technology.

Good knowledge of counselling skills.
Good communication skills and ability to interact successfully with Community and clients.
