Pharmacy Officer (Zabul, Afghanistan)


Job Description:

Performs supervisory visit from Health Facilities at least 10-15th times/month. 

Responsible for planning, implementation, supervision and monitoring of the pharmaceutical activities
Promote Rationale use of Drugs in HF, and control Wastage of drugs and develop need based quarterly pharmacy requisition requests.
Together with the logistic department hand over all medicine supply and medical equipment’s and check for their accuracy.
Conduct training for the pharmacist of the provincial level and health facilities.
Identify and report problems that interferes the delivery of services
Conduct managing drug supply training courses to health Facility staff and provincial staff
Regular checkup of first aid kits of the office and emergency kits for the vehicles travelling around.
Make sure that the medicine supply arranged according to expiry date
Ensure safe, clean and proper storage of all medicine and other medical equipment within the warehouse.
Attend coordination meetings related to pharmaceuticals issues at the MoPH.
Prepare monthly activity reports of the pharmacy and submission of it to main office pharmacy responsible.
To be aware from project work schedule (as approved in the contract) and updates the progress to his/her supervisor on monthly basis;
Make sure that relevant department/HF staff understand the standard operation manual (SDO and MOPH) for implementation of pay for performance process;
To ensure pharmacy related progress against project key indicators are updated on monthly base at provincial office and HFs;
Make sure that project meets MINIMUM STANDARDS as specified in the project contract;
Conduct slide presentation to all sub office co-workers on policies, strategies and supervision system related to his/her field of expertise based on capacity building department developed orientation plans;
Ensure that BSC and NMC checklists are implemented in each HF once per quarter;
Ensure that the HMIS verification checklist implemented in the HFs once per month per HF in her/his under supervisory HFs;
To establish/maintain easy to access and meaningful filing system and record keeping for pharmacy department;
To establish/maintain tracking system of main activities to systematically measure the progress of pharmacy related activities;
To make sure that the medicine supply arranged according HFs consumption reports and HFs medicine requests;
To ensure that the safe, clean and proper storage are available for all medicine and other medical equipment’s within the warehouse;
Any other official task assigned by line supervisor and Head Quarter team.

Sanayee Development Organization (SDO) is an Afghan development NGO, established in 1990 in Peshawar – Pakistan, to serve Afghan refugees in that area. SDO takes its name from Hazrat Abu-ul-Majad Majdod Ibn-e-Adam, well known as Hazrat Hakeem Sanayee, (1088 – 1166 A.D), one of Afghanistan’s most outstanding poets.

In 2002, SDO expanded its services and relocated to Kabul – Afghanistan, with the mission to contribute to the emergence of a peaceful, developed and self-sustaining Afghan society through the provision of services to vulnerable and disadvantaged people in remote and underserved rural areas of Afghanistan in the sectors of Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation, Health, Education and Community Development.

Over time, SDO has established an extensive field presence and has implemented projects in 22 of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces. Today, SDO continues to operate in nine provinces in the northern, western, eastern and southern regions of the country. Job Requirements:

The Pharmacy officer must have Pharm.D/B.Pharm degree

at least 2-3 years’ experiences in the field of pharmacy

 fluency in local  languages (Dari and Pashto) and English will be a plus point; He is also responsible to provide technical pharmacy related trainnings to the project staff. And also responsible for the planning, organizing, procuring, packing and distribution of medical and non-medical supplies to NGO projects.
