Photographer (Kabul, Afghanistan)

Overview:

The Communications Advisor is responsible for reflecting the project’s activities and effectives in Afghanistan through video stories and photos. S/he will work with the head of Communications for capturing media materials.

Responsibilities:

Assists with drafting video scripts
Supports the team with editing images, background removal and exporting the images to usable file types in multimedia production
Works with graphic designers to create necessary backgrounds, icons and etc. for using in motion graphics produced by the Communications department
Shoots in-house/out door video including interviews and/or other types of video footage
Supports the graphic designers in creating vector illustrations of community based health messages that are comprehensive for low-level educated and/or illiterate audience
Taking photos, editing and preparing the project’s staffs photos for ID badges in close coordination with the security unit and as per the ID badge photography standards
Transcripts audio-visual interviews into text for collecting quotation for success stories and other types of communications documentation
Prepares and follows up necessary documents such as COMMs team’s travel documents and reports and etc.

The USAID funded Urban Health Initiative (UHI) Program’s goal is to improve health outcomes of people living in urban areas, particularly focusing on the health of women and children and other vulnerable populations. Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Lead by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar.

Required Qualifications:

Must have at least completed high school
Good knowledge of Adobe products, especially Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects
Must have practical skills in using different types of DSLRs and camcorders, microphones and lighting equipment
Must have completed university in Fine Arts (Graphics and Cinema)

Travel:

Willingness to travel in-country required. Travel time may be up to 50%.
