Job Description:

Title: Psychosocial Counsellor

Dept. / Location: Kandahar – Afghanistan

Reports to: Project Manager

Description: The Psychosocial Counsellor is responsible to carry out all duties and responsibilities with direct supervision of Program Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual and group (3 persons in each group) psychosocial counseling with the beneficiaries considering social distance.
  • Maintain case documentation for each client (affected or suspected to COVID 19) separately, which is the essential part of the responsibilities.
  • Organize the clients (affected or suspected to COVID 19) monitoring sheets and build a bridge of trust with the client.
  • Facilitate to create and increase self-confidence, self-reliance and good communication skills of the clients, and assist them to discover their own strengths, passive skills, competency, independency and manage stress.
  • Having sessions with each client (affected or suspected to COVID 19) according to their needs.
  • Advice care givers to protect their selves and others from COVID 19.
  • Advice family members of persons (affected or suspected to COVID 19) to manage stress and fear.
  • Conduct awareness sessions to control and prevent COVID 19.
  • Collect documents and messages approved by Public Health Department (PHD).
  • Assist relevant staff in preparing flyers, brochures and banners.
  • Weekly and monthly reports to be submitted to Provincial Supervisor.
  • Make the beneficiaries hopeful for a quiet and peaceful life at the time of quarantine or isolation.
  • Perform any other tasks under direction of the Provincial Project Supervisor.
About Voice of Women Organization:

Voice of Women Organization (VWO) is an Afghanistan-based non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, and non-partisan organization that specifically strives for the revival of women’s role in Afghan societies through advocacy for women’s rights, their legal and social protection, and their capacity building.

VWO informally established in Kabul in 1998 to run covert schools for girls under the repressive regime of the Taliban, VWO was registered with the Government of Afghanistan as the first women’s organization in the post-Taliban setup. The organization has since carried out scores of projects for the socio-economic advancement of Afghan women and girls. Voice of women organization established a headquarter office in 2004 in Herat province. In the beginning, it focused on women-related matters, and later on, in 2005, VWO established the first women protection center in Herat province.

Currently, the organization is operating in 7 provinces (Herat, Ghor, Farah, Nimroz, Badghis, Daikondy, and Faryab) of Afghanistan having 6 projects with more than 240 employees working toward achieving its mission.
