Job Description
Providing technical guidance and advice and support General Director of Water Resource in the water resources of Afghanistan. Work Closely with General Water Resources Directorate, Planning, Design and Quality Control to plan and implement the hydro meteorological network, snow and glaciers research and study. Preparing work plan and proposal for General Water Resources Directorate in the five river basins for better water management. Process, analysis and hydrological modeling in particular River Basin using discharge raw data. Simulate long term trend using Mann-Kendall test. Water balance simulation using J2000 model. Have a thorough understanding of MS office package, GIS, QGIS and any other filed, relevant software. Flood simulation and inundation using HEC-RAS model. Analysis and predict future climate change impacts on air temperature and precipitation. Analyses climate change scenario. Effective way to gap filling the missing hydrometeorology data using global data. Run the Data Integration and Analysis System (DIAS). Conduct capacity building training to the field and GWRD hydrologists. Producing water resources report in term of analysis and modeling. Coordinate and follow up activities of the international hydrologist of Panj-e-Amu project with WRD. Assessment of the current data collection system. Making plan and proposal to full fill the GWRD needs and gaps.
Background
About CPMO-NWARA:The Water Resources Department (WRD) of General Directorate of Water Affairs Management has been recently assigned to undertake widely studies, advanced data analysis, improvement of database system and develop water information management system in the NWARA. To meet its intuitional mandate, WRD has carried out internal assessment and identified capacity gaps in multiple areas including flood management, drought monitoring and forecasting and lack of water information management system. The Water Resources Directorate would like to seek its partners support in recruitment of Water Resources specialist focuses on the Water Resources models and hydrological relevant issues which are occurred or occurring in expected areas based on Hydrological data and climatic information. The Water Resources properties on the occurred and menaced areas has to be discovered, known and well explained. A variety of Hydrology indices and Hydrological data analysis, process in order to applied Models to imply the Hydrology aspects and its properties.
Job Requirements
Minimum qualification Master Degree in civil and environmental engineering/ water resources engineering, and management hydrological modeling, disaster management and hydrology. 5 years Experiences for Master Degree in Water Resources, Hydrology, GIS and Meteorology 7 years Experiences for Bachelor’s Degree in Water Resources, Hydrology, GIS and Meteorology Have good analytic and reporting skills. Be able to present complex technical problems in a clear manner. Having experience of working with national and international organization. Be able to deliver on given tasks on time. Knowledge and experience of the necessary internal and external meetings and presentation at local and international conference. Knowledge of developing training materials, and offer trainings related to water- related models to other staff of General Water Resources Directorate (GWRD) and give presentation and seminars internally and other stakeholders. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English language.
