Vaccinator (Badghis Helmand, Afghanistan)


Job Description

  • Manage cold chain system according to UNICEF protocols. Conducting vaccination activities according to national immunization standards Determines appropriate vaccine type and dose volume appropriate for each client. Prepares site and administers IM or IC vaccine per standard protocol. Disposes of sharps in appropriate receptacle. Documents vaccination on record and immunization card. Recognize, respond to, and alert emergency medical personnel of possible post vaccination reactions. As vaccine preparer, will pre-fill syringes a few at a time, follow a strict protocol for labeling and handling prefilled syringes and keep supplies stocked. Responsible for entering vaccine lot numbers and other required information onto patient’s Immunization Card. Counsel and educate patients, the family, and community about immunization and in relevant areas of health

Background

Afghan Youth Services Organization (AYSO) is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organization registered in 2006 with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan . AYSO since its establishment successfully implemented numerous humanitarian projects in urban, semi-urban, and rural areas with different geographical, demographic, and security situations in several provinces of the country. AYSO has been implementing projects such as Health, Education, Capacity Building, Behavior Change, Social Development, Youth Wellbeing, Gender Equality & Equity, Charity, Emergency Aid, Peace & Youth, Researches, Assessments, Studies and Surveys for the different thematic areas. AYSO through the implementation of the numerous humanitarian projects reached the most vulnerable segments of the societies such as; children, women, youth, elders, IDPs, disability and mobile populations, either through its developmental projects or by raising awareness on their rights through IEC/BCC channels, short term courses, seminars and workshops in urban, semi-urban and rural areas. AYSO geographically covers all 34 provinces of the country through either one or more of the above humanitarian services

Job Requirements

  • Degree: At least baccalaureate, and graduated from initial vaccination course at the National EPI program Experience: At least one year working experience in vaccination is an advantage in MoPH/BPHS health facilities; Other skills: Knowledge of local languages, good communication and counseling skills He/She will be responsible for provision of EPI services and need to be trained on vaccination refresher courses.
