Job Description
The incumbent in this position is responsible for carrying out livestock program monitoring and providing technical backstopping to Livestock Development to deliver quality livestock services to community and contributing to decrease the animal mortality rate, arrange established fodder banks, along with regular follow up of livestock work in the field.
Responsibilities:
- Assists the livestock aspects of the project in a proper and timely manner and according to the project work plan and AAA mandates.
- Restoring and increasing the productivity of Livestock products -based livelihoods of smallholder farmers and livestock owners.
- Enhancing the competitiveness of farm households, particularly women, to establish and manage microenterprises through matching grant.
- Make a constant visit from project target areas to find beneficiaries’ challenges and provide regular supports.
- Strengthening coordination with Livestock and Research directorates to support new species of goats and sheep that could survive in the local climate and be more useful than the traditional species of the animals.
- Conduct survey in the target provinces and to fill up the required datasheets redeveloped at the main office by the project team.
- Develop simple training material for the project beneficiaries so that they should easily understand the concept of the training.
- Develop a report on the existing diseases challenges and survival causes of the livestock in Ghor province of Afghanistan.
- Provide the project beneficiaries with more awareness and general knowledge as how healthy and safe their animals need to be feed and kept.
- Provide on time and regular oversight to the project beneficiaries and share report with main office.
- Provide project activist’s reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports)
- Perform other tasks assign by the Supervisor.

Job Requirements
Education & Training:
- Bachelor degree in animal science or veterinary
Experience:
- At least 4 years of experience in Livestock projects
- Working experience in Ghor is required and the candidate should have access to the project locations such as Saghar, Tulak and Dawlatyar districts.
Technical Skills:
- Working knowledge of the sector and experience in agriculture
- Good report and success stories writing skills.
- Must be fluent in local languages and good in English language
- Ability of working in rural areas (District and Village).
- Good written and oral communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
- Must have basic computer knowledge ( office packages and internet)
