RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY
Guards, reporting to the Administration Officer, will ensure the safety and security of ACBAR staffs, visitors, office premises, and office resources. They are responsible for implementing ACBAR’s safety and security protocols in an effective, efficient, and polite manner. The below responsibilities are not exhaustive; other tasks may be required according to changing operational and contextual needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Check all visitors to ensure their identity and meeting appointments. Ensure that they register and that they are escorted at all times. Check all vehicles for weapons, explosives, and any other incendiary materials before entering the office compound. Maintain and update records such as the logbooks for staffs, visitors, and generators. Ensure that all safety and security equipment and lighting is in order; immediately report any malfunctions. Implement Covid-19 health and safety prevention measures for all incoming staffs and visitors (e.g., temperature checks, masks, handwashing). Patrol the office compound at irregular hours to ensure the premises are secure. Immediately report any suspicious or unusual activities. Guards are not to leave the office compound when on duty except to patrol the outside of the office compound or accompany staffs in office vehicles if/when necessary. Immediately report any damage or signs of forced entry to the office compound. Maintain the cleanliness and order of the guard/driver room as well as the outside common areas and conference rooms. Facilitate emergency safety and security procedures for the office (e.g., fire, security-related incidents). Any other relevant duties as agreed with the supervisor.
Background
The Agency Coordinating Body for Afghan Relief and Development (ACBAR) is an independent forum founded in 1988 in response to the demand from NGOs working with Afghan refugees in Pakistan and across the border in Afghanistan to more efficiently coordinate assistance and delivery of services. With its main office in Kabul since 2002, ACBAR brings together 168 National and International NGOs working in in all sectors of humanitarian assistance and development in Afghanistan. Its activities focus heavily on information to its members and the aid community in general, coordination of activities at the national and regional levels, and advocacy on issues affecting the work of its members in Afghanistan. ACBAR has a mission to provide an efficient platform for members to carry out effective humanitarian, development, and peace building activities in Afghanistan. The members are the drive behind ACBAR, and their active participation is essential to ACBAR’s continued dynamism.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working as a security guard – preferably for a non-governmental organization. Familiarity with using standard security equipment (e.g., VHF radios, security screening equipment). Exhibit a strong and honest work ethic with a high degree of flexibility with respect to working hours. Commitment to ACBAR principles. Excellent verbal communication skills in Dari/Pashto. English is preferable. Reasonable writing skills. Able to work under pressure in an effective, efficient, and coordinated manner. Able to work in difficult security conditions and as a team player. Demonstrated ability to physically carry out all guard duties. Possession of valid driver’s license and knowledge of First Aid is an advantage.
