Health Facility Community Supervisor (Local Recruitment) (Ghowr, Afghanistan)


Job Description:

Major Responsibilities:

 

Objective 1: Supervision, monitoring and follow up of the activities in HFs.

Ensure that the admission criteria are respected: severely malnourished cases with medical complications admitted in the TFU and none medical complications are to the OTP.
Follow-up the history from each patient and conduct the clinical examination (looking after medical complications and their treatment; diarrhea, dehydration, hypothermia, hypoglycemia, anemia, skin disease, pneumonia, and other infections).

Check the immunization status of every child with vaccinator in every HFs.

Examine systematically all the patient everyday.
Check each treatment chart daily and follow up the treatment protocol together with the nurse.
Ensure that systematic treatment and drugs are given correctly by the nurse.
Make sure that the breastfeeding counseling given to all the lactating mothers.

Ensure that discharge criteria are respected for the SAM and MAM U5 children from nutrition program.
Make sure that daily, weekly and monthly record of beneficiaries (admissions, cured, defaulters, death, transfer, gain of weight, length of stay, etc) is in place and fulfill efficiently.

He/ She will conduct the health, hygiene and nutrition education sessions in the waiting area for the clients.

Objective 2: Participate in the training and skills development for the partners’ teams at HF/Community levels on nutrition and health

 

Participate in the identification of the training needs of HF staff and community FHAGs, CHWs, village leaders and elders
Conduct education sessions of health, hygiene and nutrition in waiting areas of HFs for the clients.
Planning joint training sessions in the areas identified
Facilitating the organization and execution of training program

 

Objective 3: Infant Young Child Feeding (IYCF) counselling:

 

Promote breastfeeding skills through spreading of relevant 1000 days of life messages to mothers and caretakers.
Provide Key IYCF messaged to the mothers and caretakers during performing of GMP to under 2 years children.
Organize group sessions on basic/key messages on 1000 days of life to caretakers who are visiting HFs.
Refer patients to proper services based on needs (having complication).
Support the conduction of nutrition and health education sessions to clients who are searching HFs services.
Record all the necessary information on the existing reporting’s tools. 

 

Objective 4: Prepare all the material /Reporting tools and documentation                                    

 

Before leaving the office ensure all the material is ready and active (relevant equipment’s, registers, nutritional supplies, medicines…).
Keep all items in the field very well and after the field visit, clean and prepare them for using in coming day.
Update all reporting tools on daily basis.
Keep and maintain a good filing system for all documents
Prepared the reports (Daily, Weekly and monthly) according to the standard reporting tools.
Assist line supervisor on performing other duties assigned by the organization.

Job Requirements:

Background/qualifications

Educational / Professional Background :

Graduate medical nurse or midwife from recognized institute
At least 3 years’ experience in the field of health and nutrition.

Skills:

Required Competences & Skills :

Previous experiences working in health nutrition activities (OPD, TFU, pediatric unit….) 
Good organization, planning and reporting skills are necessary.
Ability to manage working environment according to local culture
Fluent in local languages (Dari & Pashto), knowledge of English is a plus.
High flexibility in deployment, possible with Mahram
Knowledge of intervention area is a plus
Develops and promotes effective collaboration within and across units to achieve shared goals and optimize results.
Continuously seeks to learn, share knowledge and innovate
