MEAL Assistant (Sar-e Pol, Afghanistan)

ROLE PURPOSE:

The MEAL Assistant  will be working to provide day-to-day MEAL related support to the implementation of an integrated health, nutrition, and MHPSS project. S/he will ensure that communities have to opportunity to give feedback, that communities are satisfied with the quality of services, and that services can be accessed by those in need irrespective of age, gender or mobility.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :

 

Conduct/support conducting regular surveys as per project requirements and documenting results/findings
Verifying baseline and pre-project information
Coordinate with the MEAL team and project staff and document lessons learnt and findings
Provide inputs and support to the MEAL team in developing their MEAL systems including focus group discussions with adults and children; access to the hotline; and feedback boxes where appropriate
Ensure the maintenance of both qualitative and quantitative data
In collaboration with the Community Health and nutrition promoter , mobilise and make communities aware on project objectives, outputs and activities and MEAL systems and SCI Child Safeguarding Policies.
Facilitate project and activities information at all events such as training and workshops
Support and maintain project monitoring tools, databases, quality benchmarks and project reporting data
Lead on the establishment of feedback mechanisms in all MHT locations that are supported by the project
Whenever required, give company to representatives of project stakeholders during joint-monitoring visits.
Report Child Safeguarding and/or sexual exploitation cases if observed.
Other duties as required in line with the skills, experience and role.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Medical Doctor (MD) or Nurse

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

Proven experience in the field of MEAL with international organizations
Previous experience in insecure areas
Excellent communication (both oral and written) in English and local languages
Team player
Computer proficiency, especially related to professional office software packages (Microsoft Office)
