Physiotherapist (PT) Teacher (Herat, Afghanistan)


Main Objective of The Position To enhance the students’ knowledge and improve the quality of the teaching system through educating physiotherapy knowledge and practice in order to deliver qualified physiotherapists to the society for good quality service provision.  Specific tasks and responsibilities include: 1. Planning, delivery, and assessment of theoretical  lessons: Preparation of teaching schedule with support and approval of course coordinator for organizing teaching affairs (leave plan, midterm and semester exam plan, assessment plan, etc.).Preparation of teaching plan, teaching materials, implement the plan, evaluation of students, provision of effective and useful feedback for the students to ensure teaching program is implemented effectively and efficiently.Utilization of updated teaching methods/technology to enhance professional knowledge of studentsPreparation of teaching materials according to the PT standard curriculumDelivery of good quality of training along using various teaching methodologies in order to conduct effective training sessions which understandable for students of different categories.Active participation (consultation and feedback) in the curriculum review process as per requirement.Exam planning and preparation (midterm and final exam) through consultation with the course coordinatorAppropriate recording and filing of students’ exam results considering Institute of Health Sciences (IHS) format. Identification of the students’ teaching needs and provision of recommendations to address the identified needs. Allocation of work time to address individual coaching of all students.

 

2. Organize and ensure clinical practice for the students:

Organizing practical sessions in clinical placement throughout the clinical sites (hospitals, PT clinics, and skill lab) to enhance the knowledge and professional skill of the students.Find adequate cases for the students during the  practical sessionManage the time to oversee  all students equallyEnsure effective student communication and interaction with patients that are suitable for their needsKeep records of the student’s performance on a daily basis.Provide feedback to students on practical sessions by  the end of each dayProvide hands-on coaching and handling correction for students while working with patientsProvide  immediate feedback to the students if the patient is at riskConsider cultural and gender sensitivity as well as professional ethics to guide students for their clinical practice.Demonstration of the authentic approach with patients as well as students whenever it is requiredMake sure the students prepare and carry necessary clinical assessment tools to the clinical practice area.Make sure that the students have access to the relevant teaching materials.

 

3. Ensure relevant resource (teaching materials and Equipment) provision for students:

Ensure that the students have uniforms (medical uniforms)Safekeeping of teaching materials especially anatomy modelsEnsure students use the library properly and they return the books that had already been takenMaintain electronic equipment and teaching materials such as multimedia, ultrasound, and infrared lump and ensure that these equipments are in sound working condition.

4. Administrative support to the project:

Control and record-keeping of student attendance on a daily basis to ensure disciplinary measures.The teacher is obliged to attend meetings, workshops, or any seminars related to the training when organized in the same province of Kabul.Attending internal and external meetings which are relevant to the work and as per request of the course coordinator.Submit training document records which include student attendance sheets, examination results, and clinical practice outcome/scores to the course coordinator. Contribution to the development of standards for students’ enrollment, promotion, and graduation.Participation in all committees of the training center.
