The Psychosocial Support (PSS) Counselor will be responsible to facilitate PSS activities for Juvenile in JRC. The PSS counselor needs to have the knowledge and practical skills to carry out the focused psychosocial support activities with JRC staff and juvenile at high risk vulnerability. He/ She will also be responsible to review the material for PSS and adjust the topics according to their protection needs.

Work closely with JRC to support the implementation and monitoring of psychosocial counseling activities and to provide services to children at JRC
Develop training materials in PSS related issues and topics as per the project needs
Work with line supervisor in planning and implementing activities related to psychosocial counseling and services including; group and individual counseling sessions.
Conduct training to JRC staff and build their capacity in psychosocial counseling techniques
Schedule meetings and visits with parents of newly-released juveniles and conduct awareness sessions with the wider community to ensure reintegration of the juveniles back into their families and society
Schedule and conduct filed meetings with Community based protection mechanism, to ensure the facilitation and reintegration from JRCs into the local community
Facilitate monthly psychosocial committee meetings. With participation of psychosocial focal points and JRCs social workers to discuss progress, challenges and solutions.
Provide monthly progress to line supervisor  
Ensure monitoring of psychosocial counseling activities through field visit, regular program monitoring and assist in planning and monthly reports.
Technical supervision of social workers, coach and mentor as per gaps identified
Identify and support the professional capacity building of social workers
Familiar with existing referral pathways or where necessary develop a mechanism and case management system for referral cases and case management
Acquire statistical and narrative information on the psychosocial counseling and services. Prepare monthly reports and submit to supervisor and the MEAL department, ensuring correct data is submitted on time.
Prepare monthly reports covering all aspect of psychosocial counseling and services which provided to children at JRC and field level.
Coordinate with JRC and communities in the districts for the organization and implementation of psychosocial related activities.
Monitor the project activities, document evidence of positive change and challenges, and incorporate the evidence in to WCC reports and documentation.
Identify new programming needs and contribute to new project concept development
In coordination with the legal team and other stakeholders, develop new lesson plans/ tools in response to the project needs and test the new tools and share with the MEAL team for use.

Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor that are within the general scope of the described responsibilities

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

Academic Background and Knowledge

Bachelor’s degree in psychosocial or any other relevant field
Total work experience, at least 5 years of work experience preferably with INGOs or NGOs in program management.
Sector experience, a minimum of 2 to 3 year(s) in the field of psychosocial counseling.

Skills:

Strong critical thinking and reasoning skills
Good knowledge of community development especially working with women, children, and adolescents.
Excellent computer, MS office skills
Excellent communication, problem solving and presentation skills
Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meeting of deadlines
Good reporting skills including report compilation, analysis and presentation extremely organized. 
The position holder must be diligent in recording all her/his steps because there are many moving parts in Program, Project implementation
Culture sensitive and respect for local norms
Confidentiality and privacy
Willingness to travel and stay in remote areas and inhospitable environment
